A downloadable masterpiece

is an extraction-roguelite where you use gadgets and destruction to loot your way through procedural environments

- whats suffer even about

the game blends many genres and ideas taking elements from survival horror and even competitive games leaning heavily into strategic gadget/item play and using knowledge to adapt to enemies and the ever changing environment

a run(raid/game/whatever) of suffer means playing around the destructible environment, fighting and outplaying the locals, getting generators up and running all while trying to stay alive, complete tasks, extract loot and get out in the end(just to name a few)

- generators

generators come in many shapes and sizes all requiring different methods like installing replacement parts, connecting cables in the area, fueling it with enemy remains and many more

their primary purpose is to open exits but they can unlock all kinds of things like traps, machines, loot extracts or closed off areas

- procedural generation

most maps in suffer follow a certain "theme" with some elements like generators, exfil points and hatches always being present as well as task specific objects

loot, enemies and many other things will be scattered around the environment with some even being locked behind keys or ingame events

- environmental destruction

the environment can be changed and damaged by a lot of things including the play so whether you bring a sledgehammer or some local had a bad day

a hole is a hole

- minigames

many interactions in the game have you play a little "minigame"

some are optional only making it go faster but others(most generator interactions) ARE the interaction

these are primarily in the game as a form of skill expression and additional stress in dire situations

(think fishing in dredge but faster)

the project is under heavy (re-)contruction at the moment

(the stuff above is mostly up to date tho)

rn the focus is on planning out and building core systems to allow for content later on
